NEEDS Is Seeking Volunteer Treasurer
NEEDS is searching for a new volunteer treasurer and/or volunteer bookkeeper. This is a challenging, fulfilling, and vital role in helping NEEDS to feed and assist our neighbors in northeast Cincinnati – all done at home and on your schedule!
Duties include working with other assistant treasurer volunteers to record donations, pay expenses, and prepare and present financial reports at our monthly board meeting. Accounting or bookkeeping experience highly desired. QuickBooks experience very helpful.

NEEDS is holding our annual Student Assistance Drive!
Each year, NEEDS collects donations of gift cards from Target, Walmart, Kroger, and Meijer. These gift cards enable staff at 17 local schools to purchase school supplies for needy students, as well as personal items such as underwear, socks, and hygiene products that are urgently needed.
Please consider donating a gift card from one of these stores. You can also write a check, and our volunteers will purchase a gift card on your behalf.

A Month of Generosity
February may be a short month, but it’s been packed with activity for NEEDS volunteers and donors!
Early in the month, Logan Symson of Amberley Village (pictured above) organized a food drive to support the NEEDS pantry. Despite rough weather, the drive was a success – and Logan hopes to organize additional drives in the future!
Later, NEEDS volunteers presented funds from the Student Assistance Drive to Maple Dale Elementary. School officials will use these funds to make sure students have warm winter clothing.
Of course, many of us will remember February 2022 as the month the Cincinnati Bengals made it to the Super Bowl. To our excitement, several local organizations – Twin Lakes Retirement Community, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Youth, and Madeira Silverwood Presbyterian Church – celebrated by holding “Souper Bowl” drives to benefit the NEEDS pantry. Though the Bengals fell short of a win, NEEDS was a winner this month!

NEEDS Helps Elementary Students Stay Warm
As many of us bundle up against this month’s winter storm (or stay cozy inside!), other families in our community struggle to afford much-needed winter clothing. Thanks to the generosity of our donors during the Student Assistance Drive, NEEDS was recently able to help! NEEDS volunteers delivered gift cards and funds to four local elementary schools – Stewart, Evendale, Sharonville, and Sycamore – so that school officials could help to provide underprivileged students with warm clothing for the winter.

Student Assistance Drive Results
At the end of the summer, NEEDS began collecting gift cards to help provide school supplies and warm winter clothing to local students. The results of the drive were incredible: a total of $9500 was distributed to the Deer Park, Princeton, Sycamore, and Silverton schools!
One Deer Park staff member described how students have benefited from the drive:
“I cannot thank you enough for the generous donation of clothing items, school supplies, and gift cards you provided to Deer Park Schools. So many of our families are struggling related to the virus. Your donation allows us to support these families during difficult times. We are able to help those experiencing homelessness get to school, the store, appointments, and after school events by providing fuel cards. We have been able to send grieving families groceries and have helped families who are losing pay due to being quarantined or having a child quarantined. This generous gift has eased a burden for many and will continue to bless our community for a long time.”
NEEDS is so grateful to be able to support families in need – and especially grateful for the generous donors who made the Student Assistance Drive a success. Thank you!
