Last month, requests for food and emergency financial aid both increased sharply. In fact, the NEEDS pantry served over 60 more people than in the previous month! Here are the latest numbers:
During the month of August, the NEEDS pantry provided food to 126 families – for a total of 415 people!
NEEDS also provided emergency financial assistance to 20 families, distributing $6784.53 to cover rent and utilities.
NEEDS is holding our annual Student Assistance Drive!
Each year, NEEDS collects donations of gift cards from Target, Walmart, Kroger, and Meijer. These gift cards enable staff at 17 local schools to purchase school supplies for needy students, as well as personal items such as underwear, socks, and hygiene products that are urgently needed.
Please consider donating a gift card from one of these stores. You can also write a check, and our volunteers will purchase a gift card on your behalf.
Please mail your gift card or check to: NEEDS c/o Kenwood Baptist Church 8341 Kenwood Rd Cincinnati OH 45236
You can also donate through PayPal on our website (remember to mark your donation for the Student Assistance Drive): https://cincyneeds.org/donate-volunteer
Donations to the pantry usually slow down during the summer. If you would like to help stock the shelves with our most-needed items, please check out the list below.
Donations can be dropped off during NEEDS’ open hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-1:00). Thank you!
Janie and Maureen of the NEEDS pantry shared this letter to our friends at Ursuline Academy:
“Wow! We can’t thank you enough for your generous donation to the NEEDS food pantry! Each year the students work so hard to plan and execute this canned food drive that helps so many of our neighbors in need. NEEDS is blessed to be one of the recipients of this event. We were excited to pick up two full pallets of food and personal care items. We appreciate the work the students did to sort and box the product. This made it so much easier for us to put it away.
Students Emma Clark and Mary Noschang did a great job of keeping us informed of the plan. They gave us the opportunity to share a list of items that we needed the most and coordinated our pickup time. What a great display of leadership! We love seeing young people involved in community service.
Your donation will go a long way in helping needy families in our area.”
