Good Shepherd’s Souper Bowl Amazes!

NEEDS’ pantry coordinators shared this heartwarming story:

“The youth group at Good Shepherd Lutheran has made its Souper Bowl of Caring an annual tradition, and each year it benefits the NEEDS food pantry. This year, the kids outdid themselves — collecting two full SUV loads of nonperishable food for the pantry. And yes, most of it was canned soup! Their donations will allow us to meet the emergency food needs of our less fortunate neighbors for weeks to come.

The Souper Bowl of Caring has proven an ideal way for the kids to put their Christian faith into action, following the Biblical mandate of ‘feed the hungry.’ And from these photos, it looks to be a fun time as well!”

St. Paul’s Souper Bowl of Caring

Last week, the children at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Madeira were busy collecting soup to help stock the NEEDS pantry. Jeanne Leblond, director of the children’s ministry, coordinated the drive and delivered 307 cans to the pantry. She also promised that a check would be in the mail!

Thank you to St. Paul’s for partnering with NEEDS to meet the emergency food needs of our less fortunate neighbors!

Hannah Symson’s Amberley Village Food Share

A local student organized a donation program to benefit NEEDS — but what happened after she left for college? NEEDS’ pantry coordinators shared this update:

“For several years, Logan Symson of Amberley Village ran a monthly Food Share program in which village residents donated items on the list of most needed items at the NEEDS pantry. When Logan moved from Walnut Hills to college, her younger sister Hannah stepped up to take over the project.

Hannah, with the help of her mother, delivered her first Food Share donation to the pantry the last weekend of January 2025. She hopes to expand the program during her own high school years. Welcome, Hannah, to the work of providing food assistance to the less fortunate in our community! It’s great to have you as a part of our NEEDS network.”

A Super Bowl Win from Twin Lakes

While many of us were stocking up on Super Bowl snacks, the residents of Twin Lakes Senior Living Community were helping to stock the NEEDS pantry!

For yet another year, the community added a food drive benefiting NEEDS to its Super Bowl 2025 festivities. Residents bought their donations to the complex’s annual party. Thank you to Twin Lakes for being a great teammate in helping our neighbors!
